The 2018 Silent Auction benefits Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust (The CART Fund). This year our goal is $15,000 for CART, with 50% of the net funds raised being credited to the club donating the auction item and 50% credited to the buyer’s club. Items must be posted online in advance to allow time for their entry in the online auction.
Start now asking your members to make donations and/or soliciting great auction items outside Rotary. Your friends, customers and suppliers are good sources of great items, such as vacation home weekends, hotel weekends, restaurant gift cards, etc. There’s a list below of ideas for your consideration.
- Vacation Home weeks or weekends — Mountains, beach, lake, etc.
- Event Tickets — Got an event in a season ticket series you can’t use? Or solicit tickets from entertainment venues for sports, concerts, theatre, NASCAR, BMW, etc.
- Hotel Weekends — Solicit hotels in your area Package them with an event or restaurant
- Restaurant Gift Cards/Coupons — Solicit restaurants in your area, particularly new restaurants looking for customers
- Trips or cruises — Solicit agents or providers in your area
- Personal experiences — Hunting, fishing, golf at exclusive destinations, flying, skydiving, hot-air balloon rides — limited only by your imagination. Think of something you would bid on.
- Spa and Personal Service Gift Cards/Coupons
- Pet grooming, toys, supplies, etc.
- Catered private party, perhaps served by 2-3 volunteer couples
- Art Work — Wall hangings, sculpture, pottery, etc.
- Gift baskets — Combine food, wine, utensils, recipes, etc. into an attractive package
- Sports memorabilia – Autographed footballs, baseballs, photos, collectibles, etc.
- International Souvenirs — Items of interest from trips abroad
This is a great way to support the CART program – remember Silent Auction net proceeds will be donated to CART with 50% of net proceeds allocated to the donating club, and 50% of the net proceeds allocated to the purchasing club.
